Roller Coaster Week

This week, which has so far only been two days, had been full of ups and downs. One member of my group for Publications Processes (with Barb Hanus) didn't show up to help print last night. The printer jammed, and that just added to the fun. Plus the day started out with me breaking my glasses and having to go to three different places in town before I could get a temporary set of replacement frames... and the frames don't fit how I'd like.

On the up side, I have an eye doctor appointment tomorrow, so I can get new set of glasses soon that will have an up to date prescription and fit the way I want. Also, we got everything printed last night despite the printer issues. Bonus: I had lots of friends trying to cheer me up over the course of yesterday - and they tried to fix my glasses too, but that didn't work out. So thankful I've got such great friends on campus.

Twins Lost

Yeah...  So I don't really understand how I, Matthew, someone who generally doesn't really watch sports on TV, ended up watching the Twins game last night and caring about the fact that they didn't win.  I went to the Intervarsity commuters small-group session at 9:00 last night, then went back to a friend's house and ended up watching the end of the game before they gave me a ride home.  Not only was I enjoying myself, but I actually got into the game.  I guess I CAN enjoy sports, I just have to be with the right people.

Too bad they lost. :(

Oh, on a side note.  Going to bed at midnight when you have to get up at 6:45 for an 8:00 am class is not a smart move, but in this case it was totally worth it!

Intervarsity Fall Retreat - Crazy Love

This weekend I was on the Intervarsity Fall Retreat. I had an awesome time! Sadly I kind of wish I was still there because I got a lot out of the retreat and I had a good time getting to know some of the other members of BSU's Intervarsity chapter. Below is a photo of me climbing the rockwall at the camp the retreat was held at. We had free time on Saturday afternoon for kyaking and rock climbing and other such activities.

My other photos from the weekend are available to be viewed in my album on Facebook:

The Things People Will Pay Money For

Ok..... I don't even know how to react to this. But I heard about the Intervarsty Christian Fellowship fundraiser to get money for Fall Retreat, which is coming up next weekend. Apparently they (well.... we since I am a member) are going door to door and people are paying money for them (us) to crack eggs over their (our) heads. For $3.00 one IVCF member cracks the egg over another's head. For $5.00 the person paying can crack the egg over the IVCF member's head. Apparently the staff member who brought this up was working elsewhere last year and this fundraiser earned that Intervarsity group over $2,000.00. O-O

Why do people pay money for something like this?

Then again, I'll be happy if we can get that much. I want to go on Fall Retreat and don't know if I can really pay the $50.00 price to go. Would be nice if I could be covered by funds we earn.

I Need Content

Hmmmm..... I think I need to figure out some good content matter for this. I still don't want to have this be as much my personal thoughts as my LiveJournal is, but it actually seems like I might have to use this quite a bit and I can't keep posting random babble in here if that is the case.

I should come up with a good way of using this, just in case I end up having to post on a regular basis throughout the rest of the semester.

Suggestions are welcome.

Don't Really Know What To Say

I have to make a post here, but I'm really not sure what to say. I really don't want to use this the way I use my account on LiveJournal, my regular blog/online journal, simply because I'd rather not spill my personal thoughts somewhere that people I don't know really well can view them. I'd rather keep that for just my friends and family to see..... or at least have my identity remain anonymous if it's viewed by someone else. That said, I guess this works as a first post even if it is kind of meaningless babble.
